Services

We stress the importance of biannual physical examinations. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. We offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your companions feeling their best:

Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services:  Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs.

Anesthesia and Surgeries:  We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients. Using the most modern equipment, the patient's vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures. Most anesthetic patients receive IV fluid therapy and pain medications as well. We provide routine surgeries such as spays, neuters, and mass removals. Other surgeries are determined on a case by case basis.

Internal medicine consults: We offer in-hospital referrals to an internal medicine specialist who performs ultrasounds, endoscopic procedures and helps us with the diagnosis of more complicated cases.

Radiology Services: We offer state-of-the-art digital radiology and digital dental radiology. Digital radiology allows for the veterinarian to see an x-ray of your pet within about 30 seconds, and we are able to send home a copy of your cat's x-rays on CD.

Dentistry:  Our dental services include teeth cleaning and polishing, dental X-rays, tooth extractions and minor oral surgery.

Microchipping: Microchipping is the simplest and safest way to permanently identify your pet, and can be a vital tool used to bring your pets back to you if they were ever to get lost.

Pharmacy:  We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, flea and tick control products and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your cat. We also carry a full line of prescription diets.

Individualized Flea Control Programs:  We develop programs for the specific needs of your pet and your own particular environmental situation. We will review with you the best ways to control fleas in your house, in your yard and on your cat.

Dietary Counseling:  We will provide guidance regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance.

Behavioral Counseling:  We can provide advice regarding the correction of problems such as chewing, spraying, scratching

Philosophy Regarding Declawing:
At Cat Clinic of Fernandina, we do not offer declawing as we believe this procedure is completely cosmetic. We are more than happy to speak with our clients regarding declawing, offer viable alternatives, and discuss scratching training. If we cannot sway you from your decision to declaw your kitty, we can assist you with a referral to another veterinary hospital to have the procedure performed.
